“In The Fall”: Animator Steve Cutts Delivers Yet Another Stark Warning About Finding Yourself Trapped in Mediocrity

In this 2-minute short film entitled “In The Fall”, London-based illustrator and animator Steve Cutts presents the viewer with another dispiriting, disenchanting glance at society, one in which our main character is seemingly engulfed in mediocrity, despondency, and is trudging his way through menial work and depression, having squandered any opportunities from his youth which may have presented themselves.

Like another of his works, “Happiness”, which tackles the societal rat race, alcoholism, and consumerism, “In The Fall” is evocative and, ostensibly, Cutts’ way of suggesting that we, as humans, are made for a life better than those portrayed in his animated shorts — or at least we would hope so.
