In the following video, which was shot during rush hour at Shinagawa Station in Tokyo, Japan, the world-renowned “oshiya” (“pusher”) can be seen going about his everyday work, that of cramming as many innocent, unsuspecting commuters as possible into a train carriage while seemingly ignoring every health and safety law known to man.
A mainstay in the Tokyo subway network, an “oshiya” has drawn considerable attention over the years for his uncanny, effortless ability to shove passengers in a forward motion despite encountering plentiful resistance along the way, whereby exceeding a carriage’s maximum capacity by up to 200% and rendering emergency evacuations and fire hazards somewhat of an issue.
