In recent years, biotechnology company RenovaCare, Inc. has released its innovative SkinGun, a medical device which sprays a person’s autologous stem cells so as to treat severe wounds and burns. Isolating a stamp-sized sample of the person’s own skin, the gun applies the sample’s stem cells to the affected area, in which they differentiate into normal skin in as little as four days.
With studies demonstrating that skin tissue regenerates considerably more quickly than following standard treatment, it is hoped that the company’s continued development will allow future commercial distribution and use in health practices.
