Geoffrey Gersten is a painter from Arizona, US, whose work is infused with pop culture references, political irony, satire, and playfulness. Inspired considerably by the Masters of the Dutch Golden Age, Gersten’s style is that of placing iconic characters, such as Disney mainstay Mickey Mouse, in unusual — and oftentimes historically significant — settings. The results are somewhat incongruent but make for striking imagery.
Selling his first painting in 2010, Geoffrey Gersten soon established himself in the fine art world, and has now been exhibited in both national and international galleries, e.g. Taipei City, Madrid, Los Angeles, etc.
