In March 2014, Pepsi Max, as part of its “Unbelievable” campaign, used augmented reality to transform an otherwise ordinary bus shelter on New Oxford Street, London, into an extraordinary one, the intention of which was to lift the spirits of commuters and galvanise their dull, everyday bus shelter experiences by installing a fake window.
Through the fake window, passers-by were able to witness such preposterous scenarios as flying saucers, a loose tiger, a sewer monster abducting city dwellers, and attacking robots, to name but a few outlandish situations.
