Ben Rubin’s NYC Subway Doodles

Artist Ben Rubin has discovered an imaginative way in which to drown out the hullabaloo and tediousness of New York City subway commutes to and from work: on his iPad, he doodles cartoon characters interacting, albeit not always playfully and respectfully, with the hoi polloi of everyday public transport.

Though he has been known to introduce elements of political commentary in his works, most notably Donald Trump and the US elections, the majority of his doodles feature grotesque, menacing monsters misbehaving or goofing around while fellow passengers are seemingly oblivious. His series, entitled Subway Doodle, has amassed a fairly considerable following online and can be seen on Instagram and Facebook.
