The following 1-minute video demonstrates the sheer possibilities of Tilt Brush, Google’s virtual reality (VR) app which allows the user to create works of art in three-dimensional space using HTC’s Vive headset and hand controllers. Using room-scale VR, users are able to unleash artistic magic within virtual studios through the use of 3D brush strokes, light, stars, an endless array of colours, fire, and even a mirror function which replicates brush strokes in multiple planes of symmetry.
Released in April 2016, and requiring users to install Steam before launching the app, Tilt Brush has recently been tested by a US filmmaker, Derek Westerman, who attempted to set the Guinness World Record for the longest stint in virtual reality. He amassed a spectacular, albeit nauseating, 25 hours while wearing an HTC Vive and using Tilt Brush.
Google, while advertising its product, said: “Your room is your canvas. Your palette is your imagination. The possibilities are endless.”
